Black women celebrities are no strangers to slaying a red-carpet look. However, this group of women takes fashion to the next level when heading to a religious service. 2021 data from the Pew Research Center states almost 97 percent of Black Americans believe in God or a higher power. These findings include the large number of Black women celebrities who attend church services. But their attendance also often includes a stunning outfit.
Jayda Cheaves
With almost 9 million followers on Instagram, entrepreneur Jayda Cheaves knows how to command attention. Aside from her profitable clothing brand Waydamin and her newly launched beauty business Jayda Cheaves Beauty, the influencer speaks openly about her religious beliefs.
“I hate that everybody equates building a relationship with God as in, like, success, money, cars… It’s lowkey messed up to me, because it’s so much deeper than that. I feel like inner peace is priceless,” Cheaves said on episode 4 of her and Dess Dior’s “Act Normal” podcast.
To start off 2025, Cheaves posted an Instagram picture of her latest church outfit. The business woman paired her Waydamin heart decorated tights with a black mini skirt and statement pink Chanel coat.
“You can go from the black sheep to the goat QUICK, “ Cheaves captioned the post.
Dess Dior
Similar to her “Act Normal” co-host and close friend, rapper Dess Dior brings her fashionable looks to church events. Dior actually accompanied Cheaves during her 2025 church visit, posting the videos on her Snapchat story which has since expired. But even outside of church, Dior showcases her spiritual relationship with Jesus through her everyday fashion. Back in 2024, the rapper posed on Instagram wearing a Ore-Oluwa “Jesus Loves You” t-shirt paired with a camouflage miniskirt. Even though this fit didn’t make it into the church building, it spread a spiritual message. Users commented, “Love the shirt” and “It’s the Jesus loves you shirt for me 🔥🔥🔥🔥.”
Sarah Jakes Roberts
As the daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes and a prominent preacher in her own right, Sarah Jakes Robert is the blueprint when it comes to slaying a church look. One of her most recent Sunday-service-themed outfits featured a pinstripe blazer, oversized ruffled pants and a red Bottega Veneta handbag.
Ciara
Ciara and husband NFL player Russel Wilson are always showcasing their love for God. Ever since the couple wed in 2016, social media has been asking for Ciara’s prayer.
“Faith has been the thing that’s carried me through. I’ve had moments when I’ve been in the shower crying to myself. In the toughest moments, I would say to God, Thank you in advance. I would just declare it because I know He’s going to get me out of this moment,” Ciara said in a 2018 interview with Cosmopolitan.
As a celebrity couple, the Wilson’s frequently pose together in coordinating outfits. To celebrate Christmas in 2024, the husband and wife posed a series of family portraits on Instagram. Their blended family, which includes their four children, were all dressed regally in black. Ciara adorned a long sleeve back dress with matching knee-high boots.
