Halima Aden made serious waves when she wore a hijab and a burkini in the Miss Minnesota USA Pageant, but she didn’t stop making headlines there — Aden was also signed to IMG as their first hijab-wearing model and made news headlines while rallying at SCSU when a photograph of her went viral after she indulged a baby’s curiosity about her hijab. She’s also continued to slay runways with her hijab on, and covered Teen Vogue’s July issue, where she shared her come-up story and her gratitude for UNICEF.

Aden has shared her story with the world and she’s recently revealed her skincare secrets (and some noteworthy hacks) for glowing skin and a gorgeous rose gold party look in a Vogue Beauty Secrets video, which also further proved just how charming and infectious the model can be.

Aden is seen with her headscarf on and with clean skin before applying a sheet mask in a bit of an unconventional way. She folds up the sheet mask and applies the product by gliding the mask across her skin, ensuring the elixir gets in every bit of her face. She then splashes cold water on her face, “I feel like cold water makes my pores look smaller, but y’all can check me because I’m not a scientist,” she shared in a playful way.

She follows her sheet mask up with an exfoliating cleanser, and seals her skin with a nourishing moisturizer and a drop of face oil to ensure her skin is moisturized under makeup and that her canvas is smooth for “the foundation to glide on.”

Aden also reveals that her makeup look often depends on the color of her hijab for the day or evening. As she puts on her lip mask and whips out an eyebrow pencil, she jokes about her brows:

“You know how they say eyebrows should be like sisters, not twins? Well, mine aren’t even talking. It’s a family feud.”

After a quick brow fill, she primes her skin — an often-forgotten but very important step for a smooth canvas prior to makeup application— and uses a Beauty Blender to dab Nars "Sheer Glow Foundation" across her flawless skin. She continues on to let us in on one of her makeup hacks by using Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in a deep wine shade for her lips, eyes, and cheeks, ensuring she “gets her money’s worth.”

She completes her party look with Huda Beauty’s Rose Gold Remastered Eyeshadow Palette, a few coats of mascara on her lashes, contour, powder, and blush to carve and shape her face, a hint of iridescent highlighter along her brow bone and her cupid’s bow, and finally, a sharp cat-eye as the finishing touch.
