Finding out you’re pregnant can be one of the happiest moments of your life, which is amplified by telling your loved ones. And if you’re a fan of all things Halloween and you just so happen to have an autumn bun in the oven, this is your time to get creative with Halloween props.
Carve a Baby Silhouette Into a Pumpkin
Though a bit on the messier side, as you’ll need to remove the pumpkin guts, pumpkin carving may already be a part of your Halloween plans. Consider carving a baby silhouette into a pumpkin. Not sure you can make it look like a baby? Carving “we’re expecting,” “+1” or “baby” would also do the job. Keep it as simple or ornate as you desire.
Give Out Candy Bags With Messages In Them
You’ll already be giving out candy to neighbors, possibly family and friends. Add more of a festive and intentional flair to it. Write your preferred pregnancy announcement phrase, and place it in the bags of those closest to you. You could make it a guessing game, a riddle or a phrase that only they would know. In either case, the surprise of it all will add to the Halloween excitement for both your loved ones and yourself.
Place a Baby Bump Announcement On a T-Shirt
While it isn’t your traditional way of dressing up for Halloween or announcing a pregnancy, this will get the job done. Shirts with messages have long been a part of our fashion as people, and they can become a keepsake after your delivery and for years to come. Printing a bump on your bump can be a direct way of getting the message across. However, the time it takes for a person to read the message on your shirt can provide a bit of suspense. Anything from “we’re expecting” to the due date will suffice.
Dress Up As a Pregnancy Reference
Dressing up your pregnancy announcement with actual Halloween costumes would be a festive and fun step toward getting into the spooky spirit. You could dress up as “bun in the oven,” or a character or celebrity who is known for a pregnant scene or cultural moment. Think Beyonce or Rihanna. If characters come to mind, figure out what pieces you’ll need to pull the look off. And when your friends and family ask if the costume came with a baby bump, that’ll be your chance to tell them that it’s real.
Wear a Costume With a Pregnant Twist: Pregnant Skeleton
We love a costume that’s comfy while expressing an idea. Sometimes, it’s the latter on its own, but being a skeleton for Halloween could be as simple as wearing a black, two-piece set and face paint. Sure, you could paint, draw or tape bones onto your set if that level of creativity speaks to you. Ultimately, you would just need a small board on which you could draw or tape a skeleton rib cage encompassing a baby. While the clothing of the costume can be achieved, the details of it all provide space to amp it up. Cute and creepy.
Pose for a Halloween Photoshoot With Pregnancy Props
Family photo prints can be a welcomed gift to loved ones, particularly when they’re themed or linked to a big announcement. If you’re really into Halloween and this is a yearly occasion for you, perhaps include a clue about your pregnancy this time around. If this is the first year that you’ll be doing a Halloween photoshoot, make it as grand or straightforward as you prefer. The prints from your photoshoot can also be added to your family photo collection. Win-win!
Post Social Media Images With Caption Clues
Whether you’ve already clued your folks in or have left them temporarily in the dark, a mysterious photo and matching caption could help in getting the message across. Posting on socials may be within or outside of your comfort zone. You can be as discrete or obvious as you want to be. Make it plain by capturing your bump in a photo and including the estimated birth date in the caption. You could also give your family and friend followers a clue that would put their attention span to the test.
