Do you ever wonder how genuinely successful people achieve and maintain their success? I'll let you in on a secret. Their weekend routine has something to do with it.
While most of us see the weekend as a time to hang out and relax with our friends, successful people have a different idea of how that time should be spent.
If you are looking to achieve #GirlBoss status, you have to be willing to put in some work. Here are some top tips on how we can all become successful people on the weekends to set the tone for a crazy productive week.
look for role models

“She searched for role models by reading biographies of WOC that she wanted to be like and was inspired by women, such as Madam C. J. Walker, America’s first self-made woman millionaire who ran a hair and skin products business," according to Entrepreneur.
So, find who inspires you and use them or their material as a resource to fuel you into action.
wake up early

Yes, successful people still get up early on the weekends because they know time is precious and shouldn’t be wasted, no matter the day. Inc. studies have shown that 90% of executives wake up before 6 A.M. on weekdays, and approximately 50% of self-made millionaires wake up at least three hours before their workday begins. That mindset likely transfers to their weekends as well, sis.
read

We cannot negate the power of reading. Harry Truman said, “Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers.” By reading and expanding your knowledge, especially on weekends, you are better equipped to begin your tasks for the week.
make time to pursue their interests

Most prosperous people understand that chasing success shouldn’t mean you toss your favorite hobbies to the wayside. The weekend offers you the opportunity to be creative, whatever it is you like to do most in your spare time. So, make sure you do just that.
spend time to reflect

A famous quote from the Greek philosopher, Socrates, states, “An unexamined life is not worth living.” And I'm confident that most successful people follow that philosophy, using the weekends to reflect on what worked and what didn’t so they can regroup and start fresh on Monday.
give back to their community

The novel, Rich Habits: The Daily Success Habits of Wealthy Individuals by Thomas C. Corley, disclosed that 70% of successful people give back at least five hours every month. So, pick a cause or organization you are passionate about and get to volunteering, sis.
disconnect

We all know the saying, Work Hard, Play hard. But, successful people know they have to carve out some downtime in their schedule. Taking time off is healthy, and “disconnecting from work over the weekend has many benefits — increased productivity, job satisfaction, performance and creativity,” according to Entrepreneur.
PUT Yourself In the Game

You cannot win if you don’t put yourself in the game, sis. If you sit on the sidelines watching other people living the kind of life you want, you can start to harbor some feelings of jealousy and discontent in your own life. For example, do you ever feel some type of way when you see colleagues getting speaking engagements, being featured in the media, going on trips around the world and doing fun things with their loved ones, all while making money and living their dream? Instead of dwelling on how you don't measure up, all you have to do is step up and show up. Keep striving and put yourself in the game, sis.
TAKE RISKS

Every successful Black woman, every millionaire or billionaire has been called mad or crazy at some point in their life. That’s because you can’t create an extraordinary lifestyle of adventure, travel, freedom and wealth by following the norm or being status quo. You must understand that to have a different life; you have to do things very differently than most people do them. Right now, there are about 8 million minority-owned businesses in the United States, according to the Census Bureau. Of these, about 2.5 million are owned by African-Americans, according to Investopedia. So, why can't you be among them? Maybe, you haven't taken a risk on yourself just yet.
As an entrepreneur, you are going to take many risks. Think about it. Oprah has taken risks. Rihanna and Beyoncé have taken risks. Every successful business owner has tried things without a clear idea of the outcome. They didn’t know what was going to happen, but the key is that they were willing to find out. And, so should you.
