Everyone’s home should be stocked with some fresh rose water. Why is that, you ask? It’s really good for your skin!

According to experts, rose water has anti-inflammatory properties that can help lessen the redness and inflammation of irritated skin, get rid of acne, dermatitis and even eczema. It is a good cleanser and aids in removing oil and dirt accumulated in clogged pores. It has also been used to prevent and treat infections, and much, much more.

Rose water is exactly what it sounds like: all you need are roses and water to make this magic happen. By making rose water you receive all the benefits of water plus the hydrating bonus and pleasant smell of roses.

You can create rose water to use as your skin toner, use in the bathtub or you can even use it as an all-natural, organic perfume.

So, how do you make this soothing concoction to use all year round? Here are four easy steps on how to make your rose water at home today:

1. REMOVE PETALS AND the STEM AND RUN the petals UNDER LUKEWARM WATER

Firstly, you need to get your roses. Go to a local shop and find the freshest roses you can, and cut the stems. Next, gently start rinsing the petals. This is to ensure that you have removed any residue left over on the roses. Make sure you clean thoroughly!

2. ADD the PETALS TO A LARGE POT AND FILL THE BOWL WITH WATER

(Just enough to cover-you don’t want to dilute the goodness)

Any pan will do, but try to use a non-stick pan, so you don’t lose any of the product at the bottom.

3. LET THE WATER SIMMER ON LIGHT TO MEDIUM HEAT AND COVER IT

Make sure it simmers for 20-30 min or until the petals are pale. That will give you the best results.

4. STRAIN THE MIXTURE AND PUT YOUR LOVELY ROSE WATER IN A GLASS JAR

Find a mason jar, gently discard the petals and pour the remaining water into the container. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it also provides secure transport for when you want to take your rosewater on the go.
