The Two Began Dating 11 Years Ago
Louis Diame is a Senegalese businessman whose ties to Rae date back to 2012, when he first appeared in an episode of her beloved web series “Awkward Black Girl.” Since then, the independent banking professional has made appearances here and there, joining her on red carpets and at esteemed events. However, it wasn’t until her Essence cover shoot in 2019, that fans began speculating about Diame and Rae taking things to the next level. She showed up wearing a sizable ring on her wedding finger, later claiming that she enjoys wearing jewelry on all of her fingers.
Who Is Louis Diame?
Outside of being Rae’s well-to-do husband, we aren’t sure, but that’s pretty major on its own. This is the first and only relationship that she has semi-spoken to despite being asked time and time again. Surrounded by family and friends, Rae and Diame married on July 26, 2021. Her brother has spoken to the depth of his relationship with her husband, saying that he’s been around for a while and is beloved by their family. Following their marriage, Rae shared a photo on Instagram of the couple hand in hand in front of the wedding venue. Her caption poked at the mystery of their relationship, referring to Diame as “Someone’s Husband” and closest friends wearing the same dresses on the same day as a coincidence. There’s A Method To Their Mystery
Rae shared in an interview with Self that she confirmed their marriage to “take control of the narrative.” Up until then, she’d maintained their privacy with plans to continue doing just that. However, Rae knew that it would only be a matter of time before the world started trying to frame their story.
