Neo-soul goddess, Jill Scott, is possibly releasing new music. The “Golden” singer tweeted on Monday about the possible release of a new record. In her usual, quasi-poetic manner of tweeting, she took to her Twitter/X account to write, “I have music for YOU. I do. The kitchen is colorful and the food is delicious. I’m VERY pleased over here. I’m excited for us. 4:04 am.”
Scott did not provide any further details or allude to a specific release date, but the news had her fans excited nonetheless. One user who responded to the tweet expressed anticipation, saying “I’ll be at the table with my plate, utensils, and napkin tucked into my collar 🙏🏽”
A Likely Grand Return
Jill Scott last released a project in 2015 titled “Woman.” Scott executive produced the album herself, which the neo-soul singer described as a “classic Philly soul meets country rhythm served with captivating storytelling.” The album received a score of 7.1 at Pitchfork. The review was mostly positive, although listeners expected more. The project was called “Intimate and slow-moving,” but also “underwhelming.”
Since the album however, Scott has been featured on numerous projects including one with Alicia Keys and PJ Morton. She has also released a collection of her most famous works. Most recently, the “Crown Royal” singer left a heartwarming review for Beyoncé after attending her Renaissance World Tour in Chicago, where she was also playing a show.
Alongside the lack of a definite release date, it is also unclear what sonic direction her upcoming work will take.
