Keke Palmer is an American actress, singer and television personality. Born on August 26, 1993, in Harvey, Illinois, Palmer began her acting career at an early age. She rose to fame in the early 2000s with her starring role in the film “Akeelah and the Bee” and has also appeared in films such as “Barbershop 2: Back in Business”, “Joyful Noise” and “Ice Age: Continental Drift”. Palmer has also had leading roles in the television series “Scream Queens” and “Berlin Station”.

Keke Palmer made history when she acted in the Broadway adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic “Cinderella.” She starred as Ella, making her the first Black Cinderella in Broadway history.
“I love princesses. And I think Cinderella is very strong.” Palmer explained in an interview with Elle. “She’s a young woman thinking outside of her environment, outside of her current situation, and she is choosing to believe that all is possible for her. And I think that is so admirable. I believe your reality is what you make it, what you choose to see, and what you choose to allow yourself to do. Keke Palmer attended a Black Lives Matter protest that would quickly become viral.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she explains how it all went down. She says that the group was prohibited from marching past a certain point so that the National Guard could protect the nearby buildings.
“To me, it’s just such a slap in the face. We’re the ones that need to be protected, not the damn buildings! The buildings can be rebuilt.”
She continues, saying that as the group approached the National Guard, all she could think about was why they weren’t marching alongside them.
“At that moment, I felt like, You’re human like me. I’m fighting out here, not just for me but for you too, you and the universe. How in control is this system for them to be able to stop y’all from seeing that?” She said. “Everything I said came out like word vomit. I know I didn’t let him get a word in edgewise, but it was because I wanted him to feel me. I wanted to connect to the human, not the suit, not this robot-a** shit. ‘Yo, we need you to take a stand with us because this has got to stop.'”
