What is the ‘Soft Life?’

The lifestyle trend is about doing what makes YOU happy despite what anyone else says or thinks.

At the heart of the trend is an emphasis on embracing a more gentle and mindful approach to life. And as more and more people become interested in living a softer life, an emphasis on self-care and personal wellness has also increased. This can include practicing yoga and meditation, or focusing on healthy eating and physical fitness. Ultimately, the soft life trend is about creating a balanced and harmonious existence for yourself, in your personal and professional life.

Ciara is a big advocate for knowing your worth. And she learned how to do just that early on in her career. In an interview with ABC News, she explained how signing to a record label got old real quick.

“But the reality is that when you get to do it over and over and over, you start to go, ‘Okay, am I really reaping the benefits of the fruits of my labor?'”

Realizing that she wasn’t, Ciara would later start her own record and entertainment company, Beauty Marks Entertainment.

“I had this song called ‘Level Up.’ I had the video for the song as well. I had a whole vision for my project,’ she told ABC News. “I sat down and I talked to the CEO at that time. It was like, he made up his mind before I came into the room. He wasn’t checking for it.” She told ABC News.

“Amazingly enough, they gave me my masters,” she explained. “They gave them to me for free! So, it lets you know they didn’t believe at all … It was that easy and I was ready. We gon’ level all the way up.”

And in an interview with Billboard, Ciara explained her intentions behind the song. “I would say, ‘Why am I chosen, out of all of these billions of girls in the world, to do this?’ And I feel like that’s for a reason. So when I have a chance to share my life story or things that inspire me, I’m always going to do that. I hope I can inspire people to level up and be their best selves and do that by taking them on a journey with me.”

In 2016, Ciara met the man of her dreams, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson. The two immediately hit it off and later married in a private wedding ceremony at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England.

But even though Ciara had finally met her Prince Charming, her previous relationship with rapper Future came back to bite.

Ciara was entangled in a pretty nasty breakup, with Future even openly calling her a “controlling b*tch” at one point.

Still, Ciara kept her eyes on the prize: her man. And in an interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, the couple explained that instead of letting the negativity get under their skin, they let it roll off their backs.

“I don’t think anybody made it hard,” Wilson said. “I think it was easy for us. I think it was about us. It wasn’t about anything else.”

Ciara agreed, adding that “from day one we’ve been living life for us.”

Ciara dated rapper Future for a short time before the couple welcomed a son in 2013. Not long after, the pair would break ties with each other, and the aftermath was far from pretty.

From lawsuits to custody battles, the fallout of their brief relationship was put on public display. In an interview with Red Table Talk, Ciara looked back at that tumultuous time.

“I’d have moments when I would be in the shower, I’d be crying. I had a few different settings — crying in the bedroom, crying in the shower … crying because I’m not in the happiest place, and it hurts what I’m going through.”

Despite her feelings, Ciara still showed up for herself. She explained that even though the situation was painful, she did what was best for her by exiting the relationship.

She called off her engagement to the “Mask Off” rapper, saying it would be “the worst scenario to stay in a situation that’s just not healthy, that’s not gonna get any better.”

“I always pamper, pregnant or not. I just make sure that all of her food cravings are taken care of, that she gets anything she wants.”
