Seeing as she’s been spitting fast-paced, provocative rhymes for the internet for over eight years now, Megan Thee Stallion is a name known around the globe. The femcee has capitalized off her bodacious body and bright brain, coaching us through many Hot Girl Summers since unleashing her “Like a Stallion” single back in 2016. While she no doubt knows how to keep the party going, fans have seen Meg – born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete – navigate dark periods of loss and trauma in during the peak of her career.
Thee Stallion explores this journey in her new Prime Video documentry, In Her Words, which landed on the streamer on Oct. 31. It’s no secret that the Southern superstar loves Halloween, but now she has another reason to celebrate her favorite time of year. The film answers a lot of questions about Megan, though it doesn’t tell us everything about her net worth, which you can read all about below!
Megan Thee Stallion Keeps It Real in New Documentary
Earlier this week, Megan Thee Stallion was joined by friends and supporters at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre for a special premiere event. Ahead of the showing, the starlet gave a speech, explaining, “I started to watch a lot of people dehumanize me, and a lot of people were trying to take control of my narrative and tell my story, so that’s why I even agreed to do the documentary in the first place.” She continued, “I was trying to be a cookie-cutter celebrity for y’all but it didn’t work out. I am a real godd**n hot girl coach. So y’all are about to experience Megan Pete for the first time.”
Before stepping down to enjoy the show, Meg reminded everyone that she’s unbothered by what critics have to say about her online. “I don’t give a f**k what they’re talking about on the internet. I don’t give a f**k what they tell you I’m not doing. You see in real time what I’m doing. I’m doing real s**t, and y’all are real people, and I’m a real person, and I’m just grateful to have y’all as my real supporters,” she doubled down.
Houston Hottie Inked Her First Record Deal in 2018
In Her Words promises to introduce viewers to the girl behind Megan Thee Stallion – the one born on Feb. 15, 1995 in San Antonio, Texas to a rapper mother, known as Holly Wood. Meg started writing rhymes of her own while attending Pearland High School, and while she had natural talent, she made it a priority to pursue formal education at Prairie View A&M University while posting rap videos online.
By 2018, Thee Stallion’s hard work paid off as she became the first female signee of Carl Crawford’s independent 1501 Certified Entertainment label. She received a $50K advance from this deal but this still wasn’t an amazing opportunity for the rising star, as a later lawsuit revealed the troubling terms of her contract. 1501 was entitled to 50% of Meg’s publishing revenue, 60% of royalties and 30% of revenue earned from touring and sponsorships. Roc Nation eventually helped free the Hot Girl Coach from this situation, but it wouldn’t be until 2023 that she and Crawford were able to settle amicably.
As Megan Soared to New Heights, Life Tested Her Strength
Outside of the beef with her label, Megan Thee Stallion’s personal life has been riddled with problems too. In 2019, her mother and grandmother tragically lost their lives in the same month, leaving the young superstar feeling totally lost despite her massive success. Just one year later is when a night out with Tory Lanez and other friends would change the “Big Ole Freak” hitmaker’s life forever. After being shot in the foot by the Canadian, Thee Stallion had to undergo surgery to remove the bullet fragments; the trial that ensued in the following years was nothing short of chaotic, but it ended in Dec. 2021 with Lanez receiving a 22-year sentence for his crimes.
In 2024, the Rap Diva Took Ownership of Her Masters
After a period of chaos and exhaustion, 2024 has brought Megan Thee Stallion confidently back into the spotlight as she continues to look toward the future excitedly. One of this year’s biggest moments came as she signed a deal with Warner Music Group allowing her to remain independent while using their distribution services, as well as radio promotion and marketing.
This deal also gave Meg full ownership of her masters and publishing, and assures that all new music will be released independently through her Hot Girl Productions label. Her latest release, Megan: Act II hit streamers on Oct. 25, adding 13 new tracks to the previously released Megan.
What Is Megan Thee Stallion’s Net Worth?
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the 29-year-old has an estimated value of $30 million. Much of this comes from her various music endevaors, but we’ve also seen Megan Thee Stallion taking on acting roles and other creative ventures lately.
In 2022, she earned a reported $2M for her appearance in a Cheetos Super Bowl commercial; elsewhere, working with Popeyes on a partnership brought home $1M and a franchise of her own to oversee. As far as real estate goes, Thee Stallion purchased a $6M 7,600-square-foot mansion in Pinecrest, Florida in 2021 that’s said to come with a private backyard lake.
