Las Vegas was the place to be as R&B fans who needed to feel a bit of nostalgia attended the Lovers & Friends festival. The music event, presented by Usher, included R&B acts that fans loved in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Acts that are still holding it down more than twenty years later. Some names on the lineup were Missy Elliot, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, Summer Walker, and Jhene Aiko.
The one-day festival had thousands of fans rocking from dusk till dawn. There were many moments that are definitely going to be talked about amongst your friend groups and on the internet for the next few days. In case you missed them, here are some moments from the event that are making the rounds.
Lovers & Friends Festival Moments
The queen of Christmas got back on stage during her off-season for the festival. While she performed her hits like “We Belong Together,” “#Beautiful” and “Obsessed,” she also had some surprises for fans. Mid-set, Carey invited Boys II Men on stage with her to sing “One Sweet Day.”
Another moment that had festival goers at the edge of their seats was when Lil Kim brought out Christina Aguillera. The two worked together on “Lady Marmalade” in 2001. The two joined forces once more to perform the iconic hit single that shaped a decade.
Not every performance at the festival turned out amazing. “Pony” singer, Ginuwine, took a little tumble during his set. He jumped off of the stage and instead of sticking his landing, fell backward landing under the stage. He did, however, walk it off, laugh it off, and continue to perform for the crowd.
To “rap” up this list, one of the most iconic performances of the festival was Da Brat’s. She has always been known to give a show that fans will love but this time around, she was joined by a special guest. The soon-to-be mother wore a jersey ensemble with a circle cut out to expose her baby bump. Some fans say that the baby was even kicking during the performance.
