Naomi Osaka is officially a new mommy! The pro tennis star and her boyfriend, Cordae, have welcomed a baby girl. A source confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple the child was born in Los Angeles.
“They are doing well,” the source shared about the four-time Grand Slam champion and daughter.
‘Life Update for 2023’ for Naomi Osaka
After a brief hiatus on social media, Osaka revealed via Instagram that she and Cordae were expecting in January. She pictured a sonogram and message in English and Japanese for fans.
“Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023,” captioned the post. “I realize that life is so short and I don’t take any moments for granted, every day is a new blessing and adventure. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom,’ haha.”
Osaka vowed to get back to tennis after welcoming her daughter, writing, “2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024. Love you all infinitely.”
A Baby Shower Fit for a Princess
In June, Osaka revealed she was expecting a baby girl during her princess-themed baby shower. Osaka posed casually with a backdrop reading “A Little Princess Is On The Way.” Although fans loved how stunning Osaka and her growing bump looked, they really couldn’t get enough of Cordae’s outfit. The rapper wore a Burberry shirt, the official outfit choice that most associate with Black father’s attending their baby showers.
Cravings, Baby Names, and More
Earlier this year, Osaka hinted at possible baby names to PEOPLE.
“We have been discussing names. I would say that we are going for something more unique than traditional,” the mom-to-be shared.
During the interview, she also shared that she had expected to “have a ton of cravings” but was shocked. “I haven’t craved anything out of the ordinary.”
She further explained how her goal was to be the best version of herself for her future daughter.
“I would say for me, I just want to be the best version of myself. Obviously, I’ve never been a mother before, so I’m taking it day-by-day and just trying to be someone that my son or daughter will be proud of,” she said.
This is Osaka and Cordae’s first child together.
