Olympic Gold medalist Noah Lyles has been a hot topic since his incredible performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Now that he’s appearing in the latest episodes of Netflix’s Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans, the 27-year-old only has more sports fans digging for details on his personal relationships. Lyles won the 100m sprint at this year’s Games, making him the fastest man in the world with regards to that particular event. Throughout his Olympic participation, the American star has been heavily covered by the media on everything from his manicure to his relationship. While some professional athletes keep their business away from prying, public eyes, this fast-footed American icon is proud to show off his partner, who’s a sprinter in her own right! Keep reading for everything we know about Junelle Bromfield’s role in Noah Lyles’ life.
Junelle Bromfield Seems To Have It All – Brains, Beauty and Strength
According to her bio on the Olympics website, Bromfield was only eight years old when her love for athletics began to develop. She focused on developing her skills as a student at St Elizabeth Technical High School but proved herself to be an excellent student too, eventually attending the University of Technology in Kingston, Jamaica. The 26-year-old graduated from there in 2020, not long before saying an untimely goodbye to her mother, Sandra, in 2021.
Jamaican Took Home a Bronze Medal at the Tokyo Games
Bromfield, who’s just one year younger than her partner, is also well respected in the track and field space. Hailing from Jamaica, she did her country proud as she secured the bronze medal in the 400m sprint at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Both she and Bromfield have competed in the last two Games and plan to continue supporting one another on and off the track.
Per People, it was actually Lyles’ influence that influenced Bromfield to start taking her mental health more seriously in wake of losing her mom. “I started therapy about two years ago because my boyfriend is big on therapy and felt I needed it,” the islander explained while chatting with The Inside Lane. “It’s been really helpful because I’ve been dealing with survivor’s guilt, which was weighing on me. Now, I feel like I can live my life fully and enjoy every moment because life is short.”
Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield’s First Date Didn’t Go as Planned
Thanks to social media, Noah Lyles and his eventual girlfriend were able to chat and build a digital connection for years before meeting up. They decided to go on a date in 2018 after connecting the year before, which ended up being a bust. “In 2017, she slides in my DM’s and we started chitchatting a little,” the Florida native recalled on the Fast Lane Lifestyle podcast. Initially, Lyles had his guard up, leading to some awkwardness early on. “It didn’t click at all,” he confessed of their first meeting. “It was like, ‘No, let’s just be friends.’”
The pair decided to stay friends and remained in touch before sparking their old flame again in 2022 and making their connection Instagram official. On their second attempt at romance, Lyles taught his lover how to use chopsticks while they chatted over sushi. Since then, they’ve been inseparable, attending the Paris Olympics together and supporting one another in their respective events. Understandably, participating in the same sport and sharing the experience of representing their countries in such a competitive environment has only brought this pair closer together.
After a Major Year for Both Athletes, Lyles Proposed in October 2024
As their bond continued to deepen, followers could tell Lyles was smitten with Bromfield when he said in an interview that he’s very serious when dating someone and plans to be with Bromfield forever. That conversation dropped months before the Adidas and Celsius athlete popped the question in October 2024, asking his fellow sprinter to be his wife in an ultra-romantic proposal that included a heart-shaped flower display and dozens of candles. Since their engagement, the couple has vacationed together and purchased their first home.
