Is there a season quite like awards season? We don’t think so. The Emmy Awards were held in Los Angeles this Monday and were hosted by Michael Che and his SNL partner, Colin Jost. Many nominations went to people of color and shows which cast a majority of people of color, though not many of the awards were given to them — shockingly. Nonetheless, it didn’t stop any of our favorite queens from slaying the entire night.
Not only were the dresses on point, but so were the beauty looks that were spotted that night. Check out some of the night’s best looks below:
We’re still not over Regina King’s reaction after hearing her name when she won the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Limited Series, but we also aren’t over King’s hairstyle for the event. Her half ponytail, half chignon was full of the most amazing 4A/4B textures.
Angela Basset — whose beauty is just unfair at this point — looked beyond stunning for the Emmy Awards. Bassett opted for a mauve lip and a muted smokey eye which made her gorgeous white dress stand out even more. Nonetheless, Bassett wore the dress, it didn’t wear her.
Taraji P. Henson:
Taraji P. Henson showed up at the Emmy Awards in a floral printed dress with an asymmetrical hem. Her beauty look featured a pinkish nude lip with a rosy eyeshadow.
Issa Rae looked absolutely magical in a Vera Wang jumpsuit. She opted for a shimmery eye with aqua undertones, a subtle cat eye and glossy lips.
Tracee Ellis Ross:
I don’t think there’s ever been a time that Tracee Ellis Ross has let us down, especially not when it comes to fashion. Ross went for neon colors all over, donning orange lids and magenta lips. Stunning!
The lady in gold, Leticia Wright, glittered and shined throughout the entire night. Featuring copper eyes and a nude, glossy lip — sis killed it.
Yvonne Orji looked beautiful last night and everything was on point — her hair, her smokey eye, the glowy skin, the nude lip and lord, that dress — she did her thing.
Samira Wiley caught everyone's eye with her gorgeous dress but her hair and makeup were just as beautiful. Wiley’s slick down hair gave her room to have fun with her bold eye.
