Mother’s Day is right around the corner and, in the midst of card buying, gift shopping and flower arranging, it is important to pay homage to our mothers and mother-like figures beyond the price tags. What lessons did your mom instill in you that you have/will pass down to your children? How did their love and discipline help shape you into the person you are today? What’s something you've never told them that you want to share with them on their special day?
The creators of OWN’s popular Black Love docuseries have teamed up to bring viewers a special Mother’s Day tribute entitled Motherly Love. Codie Elaine Oliver and Tommy Oliver were inspired by the love and bond shared between mothers and their children, and wanted to bring that special connection to the screen.
The hour-long special features the families of NAACP Image Award-winner Tichina Arnold, Queen Sugar's Kofi Siriboe, NAACP Image Award-winner and author Hill Harper, Erica and Tina Campbell of the Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum selling gospel duo Mary Mary and Uber's Chief Brand Officer and trailblazer Bozoma Saint John.
The tribute aires on Tuesday, May 8th — if you missed it, check you local listing to catch a replay on OWN. And if you’ve been missing the Black Love docuseries, the wait for season 2 is over!
According to the network, the groundbreaking series highlighting love stories from the black community will return on Saturday, May 12th at 10PM EST.
