Rihanna let her hair shine in all its natural, curly glory for the launch of her new line, Fenty Hair. The pop star rocked her blonde, cropped do at the event held in Los Angeles to debut the newest addition to her beauty empire. She paired her new hairstyle with a matching burgundy bomber jacket and maxi skit and topped the look off with monochromatic jewels. While fans have witnessed the singer don a range of styles through the years, it’s rare to see her au naturale with a cut this short.
Rihanna announced her new hair care line in early June with a vibrant video on Instagram. It featured the singer rocking a blonde shaggy pixie cut to the tunes of Gravy’s 2023 hit “Turn Up the Bass.” While many fans expressed excitement over the new line, some questioned the choice.
“How are you promoting a hair line with a wig on?” one commenter wrote.
The critiques continued under another video promoting the line.
“Wearing a wig to promote hair care products is insane,” another commenter wrote.
Just days after the announcement video dropped, Rihanna popped out on the streets of New York showing off her natural curls to the world.
Questions of Authenticity
Rihanna isn’t the only singer with a newly released hair brand who has faced questions about her competency around hair care. Beyoncé too faced similar criticism when announcing her new line, Cécred. Following weeks of people asking why the star hadn’t shown herself using the line, Beyoncé finally released a video of her wash day. In it, the singer revealed her long, natural hair.
