Makeup artist-turned-rapper, Saucy Santana, has been making some huge waves in the sound of music. As well as helping to pave the way for other LGBTQ artists to follow in his footsteps.

Satana bursted on the scene in 2019 with his viral single, “Walk ‘Em Like A Dog.” But it’s hits like “Walk” and “Material Girl” – released the following year and resurging in recent months – which prove that his rise to fame has only just begun.

Don’t believe us? Well, just ask Madonna – the original ‘Material Girl’ whose 1984 single inspired Santana’s version. The 63-year-old Queen of Pop agrees so much so that she even performed a mashup of the two songs alongside Santana at New York Pride 2022.

So how can we achieve ‘Material Girl’ status? Well Saucy Santana recently spilled all the details to Allure, and we’re here to tell you everything that you need to know.

Apply Some “Florida Girl” Flare

“Florida girls are material girls,” Santana explained. “We are going to have the longest weave, the freshest lace – we get ratchet-classy. Might have on Chanel, but we’re going to have some little coochie cutters too.”

Soft Glam Makeup Is Key

“We don’t play about a beat face,” Santana shared. “Most [Florida girls] just go and get a brown smoky eye or just a little [wash of] nude brown with a nude-pink lip and some liner. We don’t really care for the dramatics of blue and green eyeshadow.”

Lashes Are Essential

Santana also revealed that the drama in his makeup looks are strictly reserved for his lashes. He loves to keep his face donned with a “full, fluffy” set of mink style extensions. But shared that if he needs a quick look for less, his go-to brands are Kiss or NYX Professional Makeup strip lashes.

MAC And Fenty Beauty Are Just Some Of Santana’s Must-Haves

Santana also shared that he “loves to look like chocolate.” He carries MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, or Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Matte Longwear Liquid Foundation in his purse. And will – of course – keep one of Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bombs on hand as well.

Don’t Forget A Matte Setting Powder

“The trick is to set everything; when you put on liquid foundation, you have to set it with finishing powder,” he said. “When you put on concealer, you have to set it with your baking powder. I can literally get on stage, sweat, or whatever. I come offstage, cool off, pat down, and I’m still beat. The powder is definitely key.”

Santana reaches most often for MAC’s Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Loose Powder.

Don’t Forget Self Care

“I know I always look lit and like I’m outside, but that’s what I choose to [show to the world],” he said.  “When I’m not uploading anything, it’s because I’m by myself resting, relaxing — I’m just chilling.”

He even added that he loves listening to “moody R&B” from the 90’s. Artists like Mary J. Blige, Kelly Price and SWV stay in his rotation.
