Ladies, it’s high time we take the reins when it comes to our dating lives. I’m a firm believer that sometimes you have to show the person you’re dating how you want to be dated. Some people start this process after they’ve develop the relationship, but why not nip it right in the bud and take charge on the first date? Here’s a guide on how to do just that.
Initiate The Date
So you finally got the number of the person you’re interested in. Now what? So many of us are trying to wait around to see if the other person is interested enough to suggest hanging out some time when we can just do it ourselves. Text that person TODAY and just simply ask, “Hey, would you want to go out on a date sometime soon? My treat.”
I bet you they were not expecting you to ask, so immediately you get brownie points in their eyes. Some people may take pride in initiating things so you may get a no, because they want to plan it. But for those you get a yes for? It’s time to take it to the next step.
Plan The Date
Really aim to wow this person! If you have’t been talking to this person for too long, set a date two weeks out and use the next seven days to figure out what they like. If they’re a nature person try a botanical garden, or maybe a hike. If they’re more adventurous then try something like axe throwing or go-kart racing. For those who like to just be chill and laid back then a paint and sip or mini golf will always be a good go-to! Always budget food after the activity, unless food will already be included.
I will never recommend just a dinner date because it’s very typical. If you want to stand out, you have to set yourself apart from everyone else! Besides, where’s the fun in just sitting at a restaurant on the first date? You have to see how much you can have fun with this person!
Customize The Date
If the roles were reversed, how would you want this first date to go on their end? Some people like little gifts on the first date and some like to be picked up! This is the part where you get to set the tone for how you want to be courted if you continue to date this person in the future.
I personally think you can never go wrong with a little gift before the date starts. Some flowers, chocolate or even a tiny stuffed version of their favorite animal would suffice. But you have to make sure the gift makes sense to them. Show them that you’ve been listening and this trinket you brought with you reminded you of them.
Execute The Date
It’s go time, baby! You’ve been prepping for this date all week and now the time is here. Remember that you want this to set the tone for how you want your dates to look like moving forward. Take pride in all that you do for this date but mainly just remember to have fun!
