The 51-year-old actress recently sat down for an exclusive interview with People, and discussed her return as host of the 2022 BET Awards, career goals she still has on her list, and as well as a potential move out of the country.

“I’m really considering getting up out of here, leaving and living in another country,” she said. “That’s something that comes with 50, you get tired of fighting. I’m tired.”

Henson expressed that she feels the “pressures of being Black” and doesn’t want to endure her efforts for social freedom and equity to succumb to being just another hashtag.

“I just don’t want to do another hashtag,” she said. “I fought, I chanted, I marched. I’m tired.”

Henson is instead envisioning a more tranquil life abroad.

“I want to go where there’s neutral ground,” she said. “I want to just be. And be happy. I want to be called ‘Bella’ every day, drink wine and swat flies on the porch. Stress-free.”

A stress-free life is something Henson believes she’s also earned through her years of hardwork and dedication to her career.

“There’s something that happens when you turn 50, where all of your f-cks are behind you,” she said. “I’ve accomplished a lot and I’m going to do what I want to do.”

“I’m at the point now where if I say, ‘I quit, I’m going to travel the world,’ I can,” she continued. “It’s so freeing.”

Although Henson is more than ready to take off, she did admit that she still has a few career goals to check off her list before then.

“I’ve always wanted to play a villian,” she said. And although Henson’s voice will be heard as Belle Bottom in the upcoming “Minions: The Rise of Gru” film, she admits she still has dreams to play one in real life.

“I still want to play a real-life villain like a Marvel character, but I’m happy to be Belle Bottom,” she said. “She is jazzy and has a big afro.”

Henson also said that she is looking forward to a girl’s trip with singer, Mary J. Blige, after she completes her hosting duties at the 2022 BET Awards.
