T’Nia Miller’s Early Life and Career

The East London-born actress studied theatre at the Guildford School of Acting. As a single mother with two children exploring her sexuality, Miller refused to allow people to derail her from her destiny. In an interview with The Guardian, the Gangs of London actress opened up about that time in her life and shared her determination to keep going.

“You go to drama school and you think these people are gods,” Miller said. “You feel very fortunate to be there and you believe these people. You’re young and impressionable. Yes, I had two kids, but I was under the age of 23. I was a baby who had babies. The difference is that I wasn’t going to cry and break down because, damn, I had already lived. That s— wasn’t going to get to me and that was a point of contention.”

After successfully completing drama school, Miller began snagging roles in shows, such as The Bill and Holby City. She also found bigger parts in Channel 4’s Dubplate Drama, which was an interactive series about a teenage grime MC and in the groundbreaking queer film Stud Life.

Finding the Right Roles

Elsewhere in the interview with the outlet, Miller discussed how intentional she is about selecting roles. She wanted to avoid becoming type-casted in the “queer-actor” box or accepting any roles that contained a derogatory narrative about Black people.

“You always have choice,” she said. “I think that’s really important, otherwise I would have done so many things and my career would look very different.”

She has an innate desire to tell meaningful and intentional stories. One of her most recent roles in Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor is a prime example of that. She portrayed Hannah Grose, the dependable manager of Bly Manor with a rich backstory of her own. In that role, she had the unique opportunity to tell a queer story that wasn’t based on coming out.

“We had that lesbian love story and it was just a given,” she told The Guardian. “I think we’re seeing that more in programming and that pleases me. That’s where it needs to be headed. What I will say is that we need more of it and more differently able-bodied people and different races.”

In addition to her role as Hannah Grose, Miller has also starred in Doctor Who, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Diplomat and more.

There hasn’t been much revealed about Miller’s character in the movie realm. Deadline claims that Jocasta will be “cunning and powerful” and “driven by revenge.”

In the comics, Ultron created Jocasta as his advanced artificial intelligence bride. However, she overrides her programming and emerges as a heroic figure in her own right.

What to Expect From the New Series

Marvel’s Vision series follows the events of Wandavision. The new series is set to pick up from where viewers last saw the White Vision — fleeing from Westview. Vision, which is the second Wandavision spinoff following Agatha All Along, is rumored to follow the character as he tries to regain his memories and reconnect with his humanity. Paul Bettany will reprise his role as the character, alongside James Spader, who’s the voice of Ultron.

Who Is White Vision?

After his origin story in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Vision and Wanda Maximoff create a close bond and all in love. However, while Thanos is collecting all the infinity stones, it becomes clear that Vision is in danger. In Wakanda, they work to find a way to safely remove the mind stone from Vision without killing him completely, but when time runs out Maximoff ends up sacrificing him for the greater good by ripping the mind stone out and destroying it. While her sacrifice was emotional, it didn’t completely stop Thanos. Since he was already in possession of the Time Stone, he simply reversed time, resurrecting Vision, and killing him again by taking the mind stone for himself.

After Avengers: Endgame, Maximoff holds the town of Westview hostage using chaos magic and recreates a seemingly perfect life for her and Vision. However, after the hex magic keeping the city together falls the Vision that everyone has followed since his first appearance dies. In his place, a reconstructed version, named White Vision, rises and escapes after Wanda unintentionally unlocks his memories.
