Coming to terms with the fact that summer is almost over may be slightly difficult, but knowing that fall is right around the corner is a great pick-me-up. Fall brings us cooler days, longer nights, great fashion and even greater makeup looks. Some trends on the makeup front are timeless when it comes to the fall — cue the vampy lip and the smokey eye — but this year might be the one to try something a little different.

We’ve rounded up our favorite fall colors and the most exciting fall makeup inspiration for you, keep scrolling to see our picks:

Plum

Plum has been a fall staple for quite some time and we’re not mad at it. Plum suits almost anyone without being overwhelming or looking as though they’re trying too hard. While we’re used to seeing the color in lipsticks, it might be fun to kick it up a notch with plum eyeshadow or eyeliner.

Brown

Let’s be real, brown makeup is extremely underrated. Brown tones for fall bring out warmth and earthiness to your face. Finding the right shade can sometimes be as difficult as finding the perfect nude, but depending on the look you’re going for — it can’t hurt to have a few brown lipsticks in your stash. It’s always a win when you get to channel Aaliyah through your fall face beat.

Orange

Whether it’s burnt or pumpkin — orange is a fall hit. The earthiness of orange can spice up an everyday look that still works for meetings, work or dates. Try working in some orange tones with a bronze-y eyeshadow to create a perfect look for fall. If you want to add some more oomph to your orange look, try using some orange blush for more of an editorial look.

Sapphire

Don’t just think jewelry, although that’s nice too, think more mascaras, liners and shadows. Sapphire can be worn as a bold eyeliner look or blended into a smokey eye for a fall twist on an evergreen eye look. You can also follow @itsmyrayeraye lead and rock the color on your lips.
