Since its release, Beyoncé’s new Cécred haircare line has received countless reviews online as fans try out the products developed by Queen Bey and her team. One review many were waiting for, especially those skeptical of the new line, was Beyoncé’s. It wasn’t hard to find comments asking why the superstar didn’t publicly show the results of the line on her own tresses. It seems she heard the calls and now Beyoncé is revealing what her Cécred wash day looks like.
Beyoncé’s Cécred Wash Day
In the almost two minute long video, Beyoncé shows her full wash day routine. She reveals that her recently colored hair is flourishing thanks to her new line and the treatments it offers including the conditioner and rice and rose water ritual.
“Because my color was fresh, we used the rice and rose water ritual,” Beyoncé explained in a voiceover. “There’s nothing in the world like the conditioner. I love it. There’s nothing like it.”
Later in the video, the singer touches on some of the stereotypes that come along with wearing wigs, which she regularly does.
“The stigma and misconception is that people that wear wigs don’t have long and healthy hair. That’s some bullsh*t,” Beyoncé said humorously. “Because it ain’t nobody’s business.”
She also reveals that in her haircare journey she has decided to make a choice between having her hair colored or having it permed. She says she chose color over relaxers. She also gave some insight on how much heat she applies to her hair.
“I like to blow dry my hair on medium heat because I try to stay away from as much heat as possible. And using the old school press and comb,” she said.
At the end of the video, it’s revealed that this particular wash day is for Beyoncé’s Cécred launch party, which was held in Los Angeles in February.
A Cécred Choice
Beyoncé first announced her latest business venture in May 2023 in an Instagram post. In it, she detailed her history with haircare through her mother Tina Knowles, who at one time owned a salon.
“Having learned so much on my hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy,” she wrote. “I can’t wait for you to experience what I’ve been creating.”
Then, in February, Beyoncé gave an update on her hair project. She shared the line’s name and a release date. Since it’s release, reviews have been mostly positive. Although, some have criticized the products pricing, effectiveness and that Cécred is marketed to a wide range of hair types not just Black hair. In her wash day video, Beyoncé says she’s proud of that last criticism.
“I’m proud of the ingredients. I’m proud of the way it’s making people feel,” Beyoncé said. “I’m proud that it’s not one dimensional and that it’s for multiple textures.
A Mother’s Love
Tina Knowles unapologetically stans her daughter. While Beyoncé rarely responds to critics, Knowles does so regularly on her own Instagram account. Along with clapping back at “haters,” Knowles also often posts fan reviews of the Cécred line. Knowles has played a large part in Cécred’s development and the rollout of the new line. In a recent video, she revealed that Women’s Health magazine has awarded Cécred with best new hair mask.
Knowles also reposted Beyoncé’s wash day video. Under it, many fans shared their reactions.
“What y’all think the think pieces gon be about now since they can no longer say she doesn’t have long hair?” one commenter wrote. “You know the line is always moving. They just can’t admit that she has long beautiful healthy hair and that they were wrong.”
Another commenter pointed out unfair expectations placed on Beyoncé.
“I have never heard anyone ask these other hair brands to have their founder show them their hair,” the commenter wrote. “So Bey didn’t have to do this but you know what?! She did!”
