Celebrating celebrity baby bumps wasn’t always a thing.

In the most recent past, pregnancy was a hushed subject, considered inappropriate for audiences because it implied that a couple had (gasp!) sex to conceive. The hit television series I Love Lucy tiptoed around revealing Lucille Ball’s baby bump as creators couldn’t even use the word “pregnant” on national television at the time. Eventually, attitudes surrounding pregnancy changed, ushering in a wave of empowering pregnancy announcements.

Musical icon Beyonce nearly shut the internet down with both of her pregnancy announcements. Her ethereal maternity shoots with Blue and later, twins Sir and Rumi, wowed fans. Tennis star Serena Williams introduced her baby bump on the cover of Vanity Fair. On the cover, she bares all, save for her nude underwear and a pretty, little silver waist chain.

Billionaire superstar Rihanna is also no stranger to making headlines. Her fashions, stage performances and meme-worthy reactions have been making their rounds on social media since she stepped onto the Hollywood scene.

In early 2022, she broke the internet after she announced her pregnancy with rapper, ASAP Rocky. Rihanna has always been open about her desire to have children so the news was a welcome surprise for many fans. In her post, she’s wearing a bright pink jacket that unbuttons to reveal her adorable baby bump. And in true Rihanna fashion, the multi-talented artist has been serving her fans pregnancy looks ever since her announcement.

From mini skirts to ripped denim jeans, Rihanna is showing the girls how to do pregnancy in style. But she’s not the only one who’s rocking a cute celebrity baby bump. Several Black celebrities are putting their pregnancy on full display, allowing fans to experience the journey with them. Here are five Black celebs with the cutest baby bumps:
